Citizens UK

Citizens UK are not able to take on any new applications as they are prioritising finding matches for Ukrainians who have recently applied. We will provide an update here when we are able to accept new applications.

If you need to start the process urgently we recommend that you have a look at the Scottish Government scheme.

Citizens UK is a registered charity (1107264). They have a long track record of organising local communities to welcome and host people seeking to rebuild their lives in the UK.

Citizens UK is helping Ukrainians find sponsors in a safe and supported way. They work with local communities who are led by an individual who helps match Ukrainians with sponsors. They work alongside Ukrainian speakers. They are also the point of contact to ensure the smooth running of the whole process, and deal with any issues.

You can choose which community you wish to join from various locations around the UK. Communities can be religious and educational groups, organisations and businesses. They oversee groups of 50+ sponsors and homes which form the community. These also provide a support network. This ensures that if a sponsor-guest relationship isn’t working, the individual or family can be rehoused within the community. They will also be able to help advise you on schools, jobs, medical attention and all the services you will need while you are in the UK.

Community Organisations with Ukrainian speakers:

Community organisations, with the help of Ukrainian speakers, will find you a sponsor. No-one will be expected or required to participate in religious activities if they choose a religion-based community. Once you have received the form you will be able to read about the different communities before making your final choice.

Hosts within the Citizens UK communities:

Once you have filled in the form, a community leader will contact you to find out more about your living needs. They will match you with a suitable host. If your sponsor-guest relationship isn’t working, the community leader can rehouse you within the community. They will also be able to help advise you on schools, jobs, medical attention and all the services you will need while you are in the UK.
