At least 17 people killed in Russia’s deadliest attack on Ukraine this year

More than 100 injured across country after Russia launches nearly 700 drones and dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles

Dear friends,

Some of you are already hosting Ukrainians, while others may be considering it. We want to gently remind you that the war in Ukraine and ongoing strikes continue to affect lives every day. If you are able to support, whether by offering your space or hosting for a second or even third time, please reach out to us. USPUK still has hundreds of families on our lists who are in immediate danger in Ukraine and seeking safety.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian strikes caused significant casualties and destruction across multiple regions.

In Odesa, a missile hit a residential building, killing 8 people and injuring 16, with severe damage to homes, port infrastructure and nearby buildings. In Kyiv, at least 4 people were killed and 48 injured, including a 12-year-old child found under the rubble, with damage reported to hotels, residential buildings and warehouses.

Dnipropetrovsk region which is Southern Ukraine, also came under a large-scale missile and drone attack, resulting in 3 deaths and 34 injuries. In Dnipro city, fires affected office buildings, a care home and an educational institution. In Kharkiv region, a drone strike caused material damage.

As this is still ongoing, our focus stays the same: protecting vulnurable, making sure Ukrainians have a voice in our communities, and helping people gain the skills and opportunities that lead to work, stability, and dignity.

Please be aware of ongoing scam activity online. We have recently received multiple reports of visa-related scams operating in both directions, including fake Ukrainian profiles applying for visas but not arriving to their sponsors. We are also seeing cases of fraudulent paid offers offers being promoted online.

Our bespoke matching scheme, which we have run since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, is designed to ensure that both sponsors and guests are safe, verified and supported throughout the process.

For your safety, we strongly recommend arranging matches only through a verified provider, such as USPUK. This ensures you receive full support and that your guest is genuinely based in Ukraine and has been carefully verified by our team. All our services are completely free of charge for both sides, but we do welcome donations to be able to continue our life-saving matching service.

If you know anyone in Ukraine who is unsure where to seek advice or how to find a sponsor, please share this video link with them or encourage them to contact us directly at info@uspuk.org for professional advice in Ukrainian.

🏡 Ukrainian Permission Extention Update

Last September, the government announced the scheme would be extended by a further 2 years, providing ongoing sanctuary from the conflict. Ukrainian communities had raised concerns that the shorter window created undue stress and uncertainty about their legal status in the UK. So now, those wishing to extend their stays will now be able to apply up to 90 days before their current permission expires – three times the current 28 days.
