A Comprehensive Guide for Applying for an Afghan Passport in the UK from UAE
The online passport application process is currently available only to individuals residing in specific regions, including Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia, subject to certain conditions.
Eligibility Criteria for Online Passport Application
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Possess a valid, previously issued machine-readable (electronic) passport.
Provide a recent colored passport-size photo with a plain white background.
For children under the age of 7 without a machine-readable (electronic) passport, the following documents are required:
Birth certificate.
Parents' valid machine-readable (electronic) passports.
Parents' official marriage certificate.
Important: Ensure that all information provided in the application form is accurate and complete, as any inaccuracies or omissions may have legal consequences.
Application Restrictions
Applicants can apply only on behalf of their immediate family members and dependents.
Each individual or family member must use a unique email address when submitting their application. Applications using the same email address without verification of a family connection will be rejected.
Failure to submit all required documents in full will result in rejection of the application, and the initial fees will be non-refundable
Application Process
Access the Online Portal: Click on the official website link (Applying for passport – General Consulate of Afghanistan | Dubai | Consular Services – General Consulate of Afghanistan | Dubai | Consular Services) to start the application process.
Initiate the Application: Select "Apply for Passport" to open the application form.
Complete the Form: Provide the requested details in both English and Dari/Pashto.
Provide Contact Information: Ensure you include a valid email address and mobile number.
Enter a Correct Mailing Address:
Your passport will be delivered to the mailing address provided.
Ensure the address is accurate and up to date to avoid delivery issues.
Submit the Application: After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email along with a link to pay the initial review fee of$17.24 (approximately £13.97). Once the payment is made, you will receive another confirmation email indicating that your application is being processed. The processingtime typically takes 1 to 2 weeks. Once your application is approved, you will be issued a final invoice of $162.27 (£128). Upon payment, your passport will be delivered to the address you provided in the application. You will receive regular emails at every stage of the process.
The total cost will depend on where the passport is sent to.
Application cost:
The total cost for the issuance of an Afghan passport, including delivery, is approximately £150 per passport. Payment must be made via online bank transfer.
Required Documents
Applicants must upload clear and legible copies of all required documents. High-quality, newly taken studio photos are required to prevent processing delays or application rejection.
Passport Photo Requirements:
High-resolution, studio-quality photo on a plain white background.
Must be clear, with no blurriness or shadows on the face.
No glasses, and hair should not cover the face.
The entire head must be visible, with no part of the head cropped.
Important Notes Before Submission
Data Accuracy: Passports are issued based on the information from the old passport. If there are discrepancies or required changes, these must be clearly mentioned in the Remarks section of the application form.
Final Confirmation: If no changes are specified, the new passport will be processed using the old passport’s details. Complaints about discrepancies will not be entertained after issuance.
