Social Campaigns

Community-led campaigns rooted in lived experience, supporting displaced people in crisis to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Alongside our core programmes, USPUK runs and supports social campaigns that respond to urgent needs within Ukrainian and Afghan communities.

From emergency fundraising and advocacy initiatives to community-led events and awareness campaigns, this work strengthens our impact beyond direct service delivery. These campaigns allow us to act quickly in times of crisis, amplify lived experience, and mobilise wider community support to help displaced families rebuild their lives with stability and hope.

Our social campaings

Become a Host for Ukrainians under Homes for Ukraine scheme

USPUK is a recognised provider by the UK Home Office and the UK’s only lived-experience-led matching project delivering safe, sustainable hosting placements under the fully legal Homes for Ukraine visa scheme.

Since the start of the war, we have resettled thousands of families with children from some of the most dangerous regions of Ukraine, carefully matching them with UK hosts.

Becoming a host is more than offering a spare room — it is offering safety, stability and hope to a family rebuilding their life after war.

Our experienced team guides you through every step of the process, ensuring placements are well-supported and sustainable.

2026 Campaigns

Ukraine Policy Network

USPUK has joined the Ukraine Policy Network, coordinated by the University of Birmingham, which has formally submitted written evidence to the UK Parliament on the long-term consequences of temporary Ukraine Scheme visas.

The submission, now accepted as part of the official parliamentary evidence base. The evidence is currently under review and may inform future government recommendations on migration and settlement policy.

2025 Campaigns

Winter Appeal 2025

As we come to the end of another difficult year for Ukraine, we launched an urgent Christmas fundraiser to secure the future of Communities for Ukraine — the UK’s only lived-experience-led matching project that supports safe, sustainable hosting placements for Ukrainians fleeing the war under completely legal route - a Homes for Ukraine visa scheme.

Fighting hunger in partnership with Trussell Trust

USPUK provided urgent food support to displaced families across the UK who are facing financial hardship.

With rising living costs, benefit delays, job insecurity and unexpected crises leaving many without essentials, our team has issued over 100 emergency foodbank vouchers to ensure families can access vital food and supplies when they need them most.

Early Day Motion: Ensuring stability for Ukrainian refugees in the UK

USPUK supported the Action for Ukraine campaign calling for greater stability for Ukrainians living in the UK.

With visa extensions currently limited to just 18 months, many families continue to face uncertainty about their homes, jobs and children’s education, despite the war entering its third year and safety in Ukraine remaining out of reach.

Walk for Hope - Refugee Week 2025

During Refugee Week 2025, Nadiia launched the “Walk for Hope” — a 500-mile walking campaign to raise funds for children still trapped in war zones.

We aimed to raise £5,000 and support further 50 children escape the danger as every deserves to be safe.

2024 Campaigns

Ukraine in Angels’ Memory Forever” event

USPUK proudly supported a Ukrainian community activist in organising the event in London. The initiative dedicated to honouring the memory of Ukrainian children who have lost their lives in the war and raising funds for those who continue to suffer because of it.

The event brought together the community through music, culture, food and fundraising activities, with all proceeds supporting charitable efforts for children affected by the war in Ukraine.

Partnership with Omnes Education

Through our partnership with Omnes Education in London, we support young Ukrainians by offering two fully funded places each summer on an immersive summer school programme.

This opportunity gives displaced students the chance to strengthen their English, build confidence in speaking, explore British culture, and take part in educational trips and enriching activities.

2023 Campaigns

USPUK and More in Common conducted the first publicly available survey of Afghan refugees living in hotels

Survey conducted to better understand their wants and needs, and how best government and civil society can help them.

In total 286 respondents took part in the survey, from 27 unique locations, representing a significant portion of adult Afghans residing in bridging accommodation.

Ukrainian choir performing with Balaklava Blues at Greenbelt Festival | 50 for 50 campaign

USPUK and Citizens UK came together to bring relocated Ukrainians to the UK to perform on the Greenbelt Festival main stage alongside Balaklava Blues.

This performance supported a special campaign to recruit 50 new hosts for the festival’s 50th anniversary, helping more Ukrainian families find a safe and stable home in the UK through the Homes for Ukraine programme.

Eurovision Village

Over the 10 days of Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool, our team had the opportunity to be alongside Ukrainian brands and initiatives at a special location, Discover Ukraine, as well as with our partners – Liverpool City Council and United for Ukraine.

We met many sponsors who are already hosting Ukrainians and are very happy to do so, as well as those who are only planning to become sponsors but didn’t know how to register.

2022 Campaigns

“Communities for Ukraine” in partnership with Citizens UK

Our partnership with Citizens UK and Communities for Ukraine facilitated the direct resettlement of 1000 Ukrainian families into UK host homes.

USPUK established its own Ukrainian Sponsorship Project to identify, process and match UK-based sponsors with displaced Ukrainians.

'Consultation desks' in refugee centres in Krakow and Warsaw

USPUK was founded to provide more effective information to Ukrainians fleeing the war about relocating to the UK under the newly established Homes for Ukraine scheme.
