USPUK has issued over 100 foodbank vouchers

Since the launch of our emergency foodbank referral support in partnership with Trussell, USPUK has issued over 100 foodbank vouchers across the UK — supporting displaced Ukrainian families who are currently facing acute financial hardship.

Voucher requests came from more than 80 distinct foodbank locations, representing every major region of the UK:

⏩Scotland: 17 families received support in main areas being Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paisley, Inverclyde

⏩Wales: 7 vouchers across Llantwit Major, Chepstow, Abergavenny and other regions

⏩91 vouchers issued across

  • England – North: Redcar, Newcastle, Moreton-in-Marsh, Skipton, Blackburn

  • England – Midlands: Handsworth Birmingham, South Molton, Tewkesbury

  • England – South: Portsmouth, Basingstoke, Exeter Witney & West Oxfordshire

  • London: Camden, Lewisham, Catford, Wandsworth, Sutton, Colindale, Waterloo

⏩We got 1 request from Northern Ireland as well.

The variety and breadth of regions show that Ukrainian families across the entire UK still need extra support, regardless of how long they have been in the UK or where they originally settled.

USPUK’s foodbank referrals primarily support:

- Single mothers with children

- Families waiting for benefits decisions, delays or sanctions

- Households unable to stretch income under rising costs

- People facing sudden crisis: job loss, illness, disability or homelessness risk

Unlike traditional agencies, USPUK charity operates with a lived-experience frontline team, who speak the language, understand the system, and respond quickly. Foodbank vouchers also allow us to identify deeper issues: safeguarding concerns, housing insecurity, unreported exploitation, benefit errors, or domestic abuse.

In this way, a single foodbank referral often becomes an entry point into holistic long-term support.
