Afghan Community Newsletter - December 2025
Dear Afghan Community and Friends,
As December begins and the days grow colder, we hope you and your families are keeping well.
New opportunity for the Afghan community
After concluding a successful financial workshop last month, we are pleased to announce a new opportunity for the Afghan community in the UK.
USPUK is now taking part in a professional development programme led by the Work Rights Centre (WoRC), aimed at supporting refugees with employment rights and workplace issues.
Free Legal Support on Employment Rights
We are looking for Afghans in the UK who:
have questions about their working conditions, pay, holidays or dismissal
want to understand their rights at work
have experienced unfair treatment or breaches of employment rights
were unlawfully dismissed or suspended and wish to challenge the decision
Sessions will take place between December 2025 and February 2026, either online or in person at our London office. You will be able to share your documents for review and receive free legal advice from a qualified employment lawyer, with Dari or Pashto translation available from our team if needed.
Each participant will receive up to two hours of legal advice. In some cases, the lawyer may be able to continue supporting you beyond the initial consultation.
We have around ten places available for longer consultations.
December sessions are now booked, but January and February appointments are open for registration. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please send a short message with the subject line “Employment Rights” to: afghanistan@uspuk.org
Other support from USPUK
Our one-to-one consultations remain open. If you need support with forms, applications, exploring private housing, or general guidance, you can book a session with one of our consultants in person or online.
We will continue posting updates and opportunities on our WhatsApp group and Instagram page throughout the month. Please keep an eye out in case something may be useful to you or someone you know.
We are also continuing to respond to enquiries. If you feel stuck, confused or need support, we are here to help. And if we are unable to assist directly, we will do our best to signpost you to the right place.
If you have any questions, please email us at afghanistan@uspuk.org
