Employment and Finding work in the UK

Information Pack for Afghans on the ARAP and ACRS schemes

Looking for a job in the UK can feel overwhelming, especially when you are new to the country and still learning how the system works. On Friday 30 October 2026, the USPUK Afghan Project held a free online workshop in Dari on employment and finding work in the UK, for Afghans who arrived through ARAP, ACRS or other routes. This page brings together everything from the session in one place: the workshop recording, the presentation slides and a set of free, practical resources to help you search for jobs, write a strong CV, keep track of your applications and explore freelance and flexible work.

Whether you attended the workshop or missed it, you can use these materials at your own pace. Start with the presentation for a quick overview, watch the recording for the full guidance in Dari, then download the templates and resource guide to put it into practice.

Watch the workshop: Employment and Finding Work in the UK (in Dari)

In this recorded workshop, delivered in Dari, our team shares practical guidance on where and how to find job opportunities in the UK, how to write a strong CV and job application, how to prepare for interviews, and how to plan and organise your job search so you stay motivated and on track. It is a good place to start if you are looking for your first job in the UK or want to move into a better role.

Job application tracker

When you apply for many jobs at once, it is easy to lose track of deadlines, interviews and who you have already contacted. Our job application tracker is a simple template where you can record each role you apply for, the closing date, the stage you have reached and any follow-up you need to do. Keeping everything in one place helps you stay organised and see your progress over time.

CV template

A clear, well-structured CV is often the first thing an employer sees, and UK employers expect a particular format. Our CV template follows a simple layout used in the UK, with space for your personal statement, work experience, skills, education and languages. You can use it to present the experience you gained in Afghanistan and elsewhere in a way that UK employers will understand.

Job resources guide

Our job resources guide brings together useful websites and links in one document. Inside you will find popular UK job boards, websites for freelance and flexible work, and organisations that offer free employment support. It also covers what you need to know before you apply for jobs or start freelance work, such as checking your right to work, how self-employment and tax work in the UK, and how to spot fake job offers and scams. Finally, it includes tips on how to use AI tools to help you write your CV and cover letters, practise for interviews and search for opportunities more effectively.
