Four Years On — Why We Continue

Today marks four years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

At USPUK, this date is deeply personal. Half of our team are displaced Ukrainians themselves. Every family we support carries their own version of this day in their story. Every host, volunteer and donor has become part of what came after. Our work continues because the need, like the war itself, has not ended.

Our goals remain clear:

  • Advocate for safe and sustainable pathways to settled status in the UK, so Ukrainians who wish to remain and contribute to British society can do so with clarity and security.

  • Support Ukrainians at risk in high-danger regions to access lawful and safe routes to protection in the UK.

  • Move beyond emergency response by prioritising long-term integration, employability, as well as stability and dignity

How It Started, And How It Has Grown

When the Homes for Ukraine scheme opened, chaos and urgency defined the early months. Families were separated, visas delayed, sponsorships uncertain. USPUK which gained its charity status in record days to make sure Ukrainians can get help as quickly as possible, stepped in as early as in March 2022 to open stalls in refugee centres in Lviv, Krakow and Warsaw.

As more families got to arrive into the UK, our focus shifted to support them upon arrival. We continued in to match vulnerable Ukrainians with UK hosts, resolve visa refusals and delays, support safeguarding and compliance, advocate with local authorities and government bodies. Since then, USPUK has evolved into a structured, casework-led organisation.

Today we work with caseworkers and volunteers based in the UK and Ukraine, we provide structured triage, documentation support, and escalation, we support not only arrival, but also beyond that, helping with integration, employment, and stability

Over the past four years, our campaigns have included:

  • Emergency visa advocacy (150+ cases supported)

  • 20+ employment and workplace adaptation webinars

  • Matching support for 1,000+ individuals from high-risk regions

If you are not in the position to host, you can also support Ukrainians, by donating to our case. As the war continues, the need to support families only grows. Every contribution makes a difference. Please donate if you can. Raised funds go towards our casework, matching and visa process for Ukrainians and post-arrival advice both for our hosts and guests.

Our current Crowdfunder focuses on:

  • Direct casework support for vulnerable families

  • Escalation of complex visa cases

  • Integration and employment advice

  • Emergency safeguarding interventions

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated. Together, we have raised £2,901 of our £10,000 target to help secure our work in 2026.

Special thanks to our top supporters and recurring donors who have sustained this work through uncertain months. Your commitment allows us to respond quickly and professionally.

If you are a host, donor, volunteer, or supporter, thank you for standing with Ukrainians.

Together, we move from emergency to endurance.

From sponsorship to integration.

From survival to stability.

With gratitude,

USPUK Team
