Reflecting on Rebuilding and Resilience at the UK Parliament

Last week, our Ukraine Team Lead Tetiana Naimanova and Afghan Team Lead Anil Qasemi visited the Palace of Westminster for the special “75 Years: The Rebuilding of The Commons Chamber” exhibition.

Walking through the historic corridors and seeing how the House of Commons was rebuilt after the Second World War was a powerful reminder of what it means to recover and rebuild after destruction. For Tetiana and Anil, it resonated deeply — as their home countries, Ukraine and Afghanistan, continue to face the devastation of war, displacement, and loss.

The event served as a poignant reflection of hope, resilience, and the human spirit’s ability to rebuild — values that lie at the heart of USPUK’s mission. Every day, we work to support displaced communities, helping them find safety, rebuild their lives, and regain a sense of belonging in the UK.

From connecting Ukrainian and Afghan families with hosts and communities, to providing ongoing resettlement support, education, and employment guidance, our work continues to be shaped by the belief that rebuilding starts with compassion and understanding.
