Ukraine Team Updates
Russian attack on Ternopil kills 26 in one of deadliest strikes on w estern Ukraine
A large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine rocked the western city of Ternopil Tuesday night, killing more than two dozen people, including three children. Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Wednesday that at least 26 people were killed and 93 injured in the strike that hit two nine-story residential buildings. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched more than 470 drones and 48 missiles in the overnight assault.
🏡 The Homes for Ukraine scheme remains open, as the situation in Ukraine has not yet improved. Our charity still runs the matching project to help more families to get to safety. Please register at https://www.uspuk.org/become-a-host to book a call with our experienced team members. We directly supported over 250 successful matches under Homes for Ukraine Visa Scheme and we are happy to discuss your situation and potentially find a suitable match.
USPUK Matching Project: Guests testimonials
“My son had only just begun going to nursery, but the constant sirens, explosions, and trips to shelters soon became too much for him. His panic attacks and tears grew more frequent, just as the shelling around Kyiv increased. As a mother, I desperately wanted to protect him. Hosts’ kindness and warmth have given us not just shelter but comfort, friendship, and the support we so badly needed. They have welcomed all of us into their family, and for that I will always be thankful.”
Afghanistan Team Updates
Our mission is to empower displaced people with the knowledge and tools to rebuild their lives and thrive in the UK economically, emotionally, and socially. Our Afghan team has recently held a Credit and Borrowing Workshop in our London office, delivered in partnership with The Money Charity. We were happy to see 15 participants exploring sources of credit, informal lending and credit scores.
Thank you to those who attended. If you missed the workshop and would like some of the content, we can share a brief signposting resource with you. Please email us at afghanistan@uspuk.org. We also continue our individual consultations in Dari and Pashto both offline and online.
