Afghan Community Newsletter - June 2026
Dear Afghan Community and Friends,
We hope you had a wonderful month of May, enjoyed the Eid celebrations, and managed to make the most of the recent warm weather and sunshine.
We are pleased to share that we have now successfully completed all of this year’s in person financial education workshops at our King’s Cross office. Across the sessions, participants explored topics including the UK financial system, banking, budgeting, saving, and our final workshop on Safe Money, which focused on identifying scams, fraud awareness, and where to seek support if affected.
The workshops created meaningful discussions in the room, with participants sharing experiences and practical questions about everyday life in the UK. We are also delighted that those who attended all sessions received certificates recognising their participation and commitment throughout the programme. We will be in touch when we have similar opportunities.
Life in the UK test
We are also pleased to share that our new Life in the UK information pack is now available on our website. As many members of the Afghan cohort who arrived in the UK during 2021 are expected to become eligible for citizenship from this summer onwards, we have developed this resource to provide practical information and guidance on the next steps of the journey.
Refugee Week
As we mark Refugee Week this month, we take a moment to recognise the strength, resilience and contributions of refugees across the UK. We are proud of the many members of our community who continue to build new lives, support others and make a positive difference wherever they are.
