Afghan Community Newsletter - Refugee Week
Dear Afghan Community and Friends,
As we mark Refugee Week, we recognise the strength and resilience of those who have been forced to flee war and conflict and rebuild their lives in safety. We are proud of the many members of our community who continue to make a positive contribution across the UK.
To mark Refugee Week, we would like to share a number of opportunities and resources that may be of interest to you or someone you know.
Job Board
As promised, we are introducing a small job board as part of this newsletter. Please find a few opportunities below if you are interested in applying:
Housing Support Worker, Hope Projects, Balsall Heath, West Midlands (Hybrid)
This role may be suitable for someone with experience or interest in housing, refugee support, homelessness, advice work, casework, or community support. Salary: £33,672 to £36,580 per year (pro rata)
Hours: 4 days per week (0.8 FTE)
Deadline: 8 July 2026Volunteer Coordinator, Globe Community Project, Tower Hamlets, London
This role may be suitable for someone with experience in volunteering, community work, administration, project coordination, or supporting people from diverse backgrounds. Salary: £29,500 FTE
Hours: 16 hours per week
Contract: 1-year fixed-term contract with potential to extend
Deadline: 29 June 2026 at 9:00am
Interviews: Week commencing 6 July 2026Free Professional English Language Tuition
Breaking Barriers offers a language tuition programme for refugees with a minimum English level of B1 (ESOL Entry 3). The programme focuses on developing professional communication skills to support employment, career progression and integration in the UK.

Flexible Work and Freelancing Platforms

A simpler way to reach USPUK support
We’ve updated our contact forms to make it even easier for you to get help from the USPUK team. Whether you have a question, concern, or need guidance, you can now reach out quickly through our improved forms.
Our team monitors enquiries Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and will respond as soon as possible. We are here to support you.
Other support from USPUK
Our one-to-one consultations remain open for anyone needing guidance or help with forms, housing or general support. You are welcome to book an appointment in person or online.
Starting next month, we will also begin sharing job opportunities that members of our community may benefit from.
We will continue posting updates and opportunities on our WhatsApp group and Instagram page throughout the month. Please keep an eye out in case something may be useful to you or someone you know.
